Activity 1.4: Getting to know your community

Following are some key questions to answer as you get to know the community your organisation serves. Completed this activity in your Portfolio.

  1. General Character of the Community.
    What is the general character of the community served by your organisation? Urban, suburban, rural, national or international? How does this impact on the services provided or products sold?
     
  2. Strengths and Weaknesses
    What are the major strengths or assets of the community? What are the weaknesses and limitations?
     
  3. Cultural makeup
    What racial and ethnic groups are prevalent in the community? What special challenges are presented by cultural diversity?
     
  4. Demographic Information
    What relevant demographic information is available about the community in which the organisation is located?
