Activity 5.1 Working safely

Use your professional or vocational interests as a way of identifying the occupational health and safety issues in your practicum. As a starting point for collecting this information, try the Workcover site. Note particularly the WorkSafe parts of this site - see the WorkSafe box on the right hand side of the Workcover screen. However, this may not be relevant for all professional and vocational activities.

  1. Go to the World Wide Web and seek the type of work safety issues that have been identified in your profession or vocation. Name these issues.

  2. From your limited experience with your profession or vocation, can you identify any other likely issues or incidents? In undertaking this activity, consider the working environment and the range of activities that people are expected to perform at work.

  3. What action might have been taken to prevent these incidents?
